8.5 pounds of meth and over $75,000 seized after high speed chase
Carlos Moreno

On Sept. 11, Carlos Moreno, 27, Kansas City, Ks., was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class A felony of trafficking in drugs/attempted trafficking in drugs in the second degree. Bond is set at $300,000 cash only.
The charge stems from an incident that occurred during the early morning hours the same day when an Osceola Police Department (OPD) officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a black SUV and it failed to yield. The vehicle was traveling southbound on Highway 13 and turned around at Highway T and started traveling northbound on Highway 13. A St. Clair County deputy was in position on Highway 13 and SE 50 Road and deployed a spike strip. The vehicle ran over the strip on the driver’s side and continued northbound on Highway 13 eventually driving on the vehicle’s rim. The OPD officer and the deputy continued in their attempt to stop the vehicle that was traveling at speeds over 100 miles per hour. The vehicle continued on Highway 13 through Clinton and then northbound on Highway 7. The vehicle stopped after it rolled over on Highway 7 near Urich and the OPD officer took Moreno into custody.
During the investigation, law enforcement officials located multiple packages wrapped in cellophane inside the vehicle. The estimated weight of the packages totaled four kilos or 8.5 pounds. The contents of the packages field tested positive for methamphetamine. Over $75,000 in cash was also seized during the investigation.
Agencies involved with the investigation included OPD, St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office, Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force and the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
