Felony arrests made for assault and drugs

Collins man arrested on felony assault charge

Leslie Besser

On Sept. 27, Leslie Besser, 82, Collins, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class A felony of assault-first degree. Bond is set at $50,000 cash or surety. The charge stems from an incident earlier the same day when a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to the Pilot Truck Stop, Collins, in reference to an individual being shot at. Dan Reese explained he had an agreement with Besser to stay at his property on SE 1200 Road, Collins. Reese reported Beeser came inside his residence uninvited and started yelling at him. Reese said Besser left the residence and later returned with a revolver. There was an altercation and Besser allegedly discharged the revolver into a wall of the residence.

Two arrested in early morning hours at Shelby’s

Rebecca Trowbridge
Tony Manuel

On Sept. 27, Rebecca Trowbridge, 28, Holden and formerly of Collins, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class B felony of distributing a controlled substance.  Bond is set at $25,000 cash or surety.
The charge stems from an incident in the early morning hours on the same day when St. Clair County deputies responded to the rear parking lot at Shelby’s, Lowry City, in reference to a warrant arrest. A deputy was on patrol and recognized a passenger in a vehicle with an active arrest warrant from Henry County. The passenger, Tony Manuel, 30, Osceola, was arrested on a felony warrant from Henry County charging him with a probation violation on an original charge of driving while revoked. Bond was set at $1,500 cash only.
Trowbridge was driving the vehicle and during the investigation she was found to be in possession of a white crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine, two digital scales, plastic bags, a glass pipe, part of a straw and a spoon.
