St. Clair County Sheriff's Office News Release for Nov. 24-Dec. 1, 2014

     St. Clair County deputies responded to a variety of calls for service from Nov. 24-Dec. 1. Sheriff Scott Keeler said deputies made six warrant arrests and took reports of stealing and burglary.

Stolen bull

     On Nov. 26, St. Clair County deputies took a report of a stolen Black Angus bull. Arron McClure reported the bull was last seen on property he leases near NE 1000 Road, Lowry City, on Nov. 22. The bull is described as a five year old registered Black Angus weighing approximately 2,000 pounds. The bull’s value was estimated at $2,500. The investigation is ongoing.

Possible burglary reported in Appleton City

     On Nov. 25, a St. Clair County deputy took a report of a possible burglary at a storage unit on Locust Street, Appleton City. Dorothy Hamilton reported someone cut the lock off of her storage unit. It was unknown if anything was missing at the time of the report. The investigation is ongoing.

Investigation of stolen motor in Collins continues

     Deputies from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office are continuing an investigation regarding motor fuel being stolen from the Collins Special Road District. An initial report was taken on Nov. 18 and it was noted through the past year, diesel fuel has been stolen from a dump truck. Evidence was collected and a suspect was named. On Nov. 24, additional evidence was collected and a request for prosecution was signed. The investigation is ongoing.

Warrant arrests

     On Nov. 29, John Chiles Jr., 38, Deepwater, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with two class C felony charges, domestic assault–second degree and felonious restraint. The warrant was issued on Nov. 25 and the charges stem from an incident on Nov. 19 when a St. Clair County deputy was dispatched to a residence in the Ricochet Ridge Subdivision, Deepwater. A female victim reported she was assaulted by Chiles. She stated Chiles hit her in the head with his head and threw her to the ground where he kneed her in the back near her right shoulder blade. The victim stated Chiles continued to hit her in the head and pull her around by her hair. She said several attempts were made to get out of the residence and Chiles was holding her inside the residence against her will. Bond is set at $10,000 cash only and a court date of Dec. 19 was issued.

Eric Engeman, Lowry City

     On Nov. 26, Eric Engeman, 42, Lowry City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with a class C felony of possessing a controlled substance. The charge stems from an incident the same day when St. Clair County deputies were investigating a stealing case at Engeman’s residence on NE 201 Road. During the investigation, methamphetamine and prescription pills were located along with several items of paraphernalia. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety and a court date of Dec. 5 was issued.

Kellee Letterman, Marshfield

     On Nov. 26, Kellee Letterman, 33, Marshfield, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging her with a class C felony of passing bad checks-$500 or more-no account/insufficient funds. The charge stems from an incident in April. The warrant was issued in June. Bond is set at $250 cash only and a court date of Dec. 19 was issued.

Justin Ramsey, Independence

     On Nov. 25, Justin Ramsey, 30, Independence, was arrested in St. Clair County on a Jackson County warrant for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor assault charge. Bond is set at $1,000 cash or surety.

Shauna Kennicutt, Osceola

     On Nov. 25, Shauna Kennicutt, 40, Osceola, was arrested in St. Clair County on a no bond warrant from Polk County for a probation violation on an original charge of burglary in the second degree, a class C felony. Kennicutt was transported to the county line and the Polk County Sheriff’s Office took custody.

Ashley Mitchell, Montrose

     On Nov. 24, Ashley Mitchell, 23, Montrose, was arrested on two St. Clair County felony warrants. One warrant was for failing to appear in court for a probation violation hearing. In November 2013, Mitchell pled guilty to a class C felony charge of possessing a controlled substance. She received a suspended imposition of sentence and was placed on probation. The original charge stemmed from an incident in July 2013. The warrant was issued Nov. 4 and bond is set at $2,500 cash only.
     The second warrant was for failing to appear in court a class C felony charge of possessing a controlled substance. The charge stems from an incident on Sept. 16 when a St. Clair County deputy assisted the Appleton City Police Department with a call regarding an alleged assault that occurred near Appleton City. Contact was made with Mitchell in the parking lot of Dollar General, Appleton City. During the investigation, Mitchell was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. She was arrested and posted bond prior to a warrant being issued. On Sept. 19, a criminal summons was issued in the case. The warrant for failing to appear in court was issued on Nov. 18 and bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Felony warrants issued

     A St. Clair County felony arrest warrant was recently issued for Camille Prentice, 25, Deepwater. Prentice is charged with a probation violation on an original charge of possessing a controlled substance, a class C felony. The charge stems from an incident in May 2013. In November 2013, Prentice plead guilty to the charge and received a suspended imposition of sentence and was placed on probation for five years. Bond is set at $1,500 cash only.
