News Release for March 4-11, 2014

 

St. Clair County Sheriff Scott Keeler said deputies were busy during the week of March 4-11. He noted a Kansas City man was arrested attempting to steal copper and there was another report of items stolen from a vehicle in Appleton City. Deputies made several arrests on outstanding warrants during the week.

Arrest made for stealing from church and Boy Scout Building

On Saturday morning, March 8, Robin L. Perry, 48, Kansas City, was arrested on three felony charges after an off duty St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office detective caught him attempting to steal copper from an air conditioning unit and propane tank at the Valley Center United Church of Christ, Deepwater. Perry attempted to flee in a nearby field, but was apprehended a short time later.

The investigation revealed evidence inside Perry’s vehicle that appeared to be taken from the church as well as other items. At that time, deputies were advised air conditioning units were reported stolen from the Boy Scout Hall located at the intersection of A Highway and 13 Highway near Lowry City. Evidence from the stealing at the Boy Scout Hall was also located in Perry’s vehicle.

An arrest warrant was obtained the same day charging Perry with stealing wire/electrical transformer or other device/pipe, a class C felony;  resisting/interfering with arrest for a felony, a class D felony; and receiving stolen property, a class C felony.

Another report of items stolen from vehicle in Appleton City

On Tuesday, March 4, a St. Clair County deputy took another report of items stolen from a vehicle in Appleton City. Bill Berry reported a Garmin GPS valued at $200, a fixed blade knife with a handmade handle made out of an antler and some prescription bottles were stolen from his pick-up parked on East 3rd Street during the night of Feb. 28. On March 1-2, the sheriff’s office took three reports of similar incidents on North Poplar Street, North Maple Street and East 2nd Street. The investigation is ongoing.

Raymond Hood

Raymond Hood- On Thursday, March 6, Raymond S. Hood, 41, Montrose, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant charging him with seven felony sex crimes. Hood’s charges include five unclassified felony charges of statutory rape in the first degree- sexual intercourse with person less than 14 years old; one charge statutory sodomy in the second degree, a class C felony; and one charge statutory rape in the second degree, a class C felony. Bond was set at $75,000 cash only. The charges stem from a Division of Children's Services investigation of incidents that allegedly occurred between 2005 and 2010. The warrant was issued on March 3.

Tiffany Walker- On Wednesday, March 5, Tiffany Walker, 28, Appleton City, was arrested in St. Clair County on a Jasper County warrant for a class D felony drug charge. Bond was set at $3,500 cash or surety. The warrant was issued on Feb. 11.

Last month, Walker was arrested in connection to crimes committed in Appleton City after a tip was received from a post on the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page. On Feb. 5, she was formally charged in St. Clair County with two class C felonies, second degree burglary and possession of controlled substance.

 
Breshia Grosso

Breshia Grosso- On Tuesday, March 4, Breshia Grosso, 22, Webb City, was arrested on a felony St. Clair County warrant charging her with class C felony of possessing of a controlled substance. Bond was set at $10,000 cash or surety. The warrant was issued on Jan. 22. The charge stems from an incident on Aug. 31, 2013 when a St. Clair County deputy was on patrol on C Highway and observed two people standing behind a vehicle on NW 651 Road, Lowry City. Contact was made with the individuals and it was learned the subjects were attending Wakefest, a weekend concert at Seven Rivers Resort near Talley Bend.

The report notes while observing Grosso, it appeared as though she was in an intoxicated condition or under the influence of a controlled substance. Identification was requested and Grosso stated she did not have one. She gave the deputy her name and social security number. A check of the information revealed Grosso gave a wrong social security number. She was advised she would be detained until identification could be made.

The deputy asked Grosso to turn around and place her hands behind her back. She did not comply and began to resist. She was brought under control, restrained and secured in the patrol vehicle for further investigation.

Contact was made with a female subject inside the vehicle who noted the vehicle was hers. Another deputy arrived on scene and consent to search the vehicle was obtained. A backpack was located in the rear seat that contained marijuana and psilocybin mushrooms. The backpack was identified as Grosso’s property. The drugs were seized. Grosso was transported to the St. Clair County Jail and released pending formal charges.

Daylon Turner- On Tuesday, March 4, Daylon Turner, 27, Appleton City, was arrested on a St. Clair County warrant issued for a probation violation. Bond was set at $1,000 cash or surety. The original charge was a class B misdemeanor of driving while intoxicated-drug intoxication from an incident on Dec. 6, 2012.

Jennifer Havens- On March 8, Jennifer Havens, 26, Appleton City, was arrested in St. Clair County on a warrant from Henry Couty. The warrant was for failing to appear in court on a misdemeanor traffic offense. Bond was set at $250.

On Friday, March 7, a St. Clair County arrest warrant was issued for James P. Thompson, 43, Lowry City, charging him with three felony counts. Thompson is charged with armed criminal action, an unclassified felony; endangering the welfare of a child, a class C felony; and unlawful use of a weapon, a class D felony.

The charges stem from an incident at Casey's General Store on Feb. 23 when St. Clair County deputies and the Osceola Police Department (OPD) were dispatched to a call regarding a man with a gun inside the store. The OPD’s investigation revealed Thompson was carrying a handgun and pointed it at an individual inside the store. There was a child nearby.

On Wednesday, March 5, nine St. Clair County arrest warrants were issued. A felony arrest warrant was issued for Walter John Starnes, 44, Osceola, for failing to appear in court on a class D felony of nonsupport in each of six individual months within any 12-month period, amount owed is in excess of $5,000. Bond is set at $1,000 cash only. The original charge stems from Nov. 1996.

A felony arrest warrant was issued for Courtney Nicole Hopkins, 29, Clinton, for failing to appear in court on a class C felony charge of forgery. The charge stems from an incident on Oct. 2, 2013. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

Mathew Robertson

A felony arrest warrant was issued for Mathew Ryan Robertson, 27, Collins, for failing to appear in court on three passing bad check charges. Two are class C felony charges passing a bad check - $500 or more - no account/insufficient funds from an incidents on July 7, 2013 and July 5, 2013. The other charge is a class A misdemeanor passing a bad check - less than $500 from an incident on June 22, 2013. Bond is set at $500 cash only.

A warrant was issued for Travis Lee Carr, 21, Collins, for failing to appear in court on two conservation related charges. Carr is charged with a class A misdemeanor of pursuing/taking/killing/possessing or disposing of wildlife illegally and a class C misdemeanor of attempting to pursue/taking/kill/possess or dispose of wildlife illegally. Total bond is set at $1,000 cash only. The charges stems from an incident in November 2013.

A warrant was issued for Carl W. Gueltzau, 33, Kansas City, for failing to appear in court on a class A misdemeanor charge of third degree domestic assault – first/second offense. The charge stems from an incident on Sept. 6, 2013. Bond is set at $10,000 cash or surety.

A warrant was issued for Ronald William Noble, 44, Independence, for failing to appear in court on a class A misdemeanor charge of non-support. The original charge stems from December 2011. Bond is set at $750 cash only.

A warrant was issued for Levi Roscoe Sieleman, 32, El Dorado Springs, for failing to appear in court on a class A misdemeanor charge of non support. The original charge stems from Jan. 2013. Bond is set at $500 cash only.

A warrant was issued for Nicole Marie Weir, 28, Grandview, for failing to appear in court on a class A misdemeanor charge of non support. The original charge stems from Dec. 2010. Bond is set at $500 cash only.

A warrant was issued for Deanna Younce, 38, Lowry City, for failing to appear in court on two class A misdemeanor charges of passing a bad check-less than $500. The charges stems from incidents on Oct. 5-6, 2013. Bond is set at $500 cash only.

On Tuesday, March 4, an arrest warrant was issued for Lloyd Austin Mackey, 39, Aurora, for probation violation. Bond is set at $500 cash only. Mackey is on probation after pleading guilty to a class A misdemeanor of non support in May 2013. The original charge stems from Aug. 2009.
