On April 4, 2016-amended information filed charging Newman with class A misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance.
April 4, 2016-Guilty plea. The imposition of sentence was suspended and Newman was placed on unsupervised probation for two years.

The charges stem from an incident on Jan. 25 after a traffic stop was conducted by the Mid Missouri Multi Jurisdiction Drug Task Force on Highway 54 east of Collins. Newman was driving the vehicle. During the investigation, a drug detecting canine from the Hickory County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene. The canine alerted on the vehicle and a search was conducted. Over 200 grams of marijuana, a scale and plastic bags were located in the vehicle.
